Lucinda’s Poetry – New and Old

Three Men In A Tub – Fractured Poem Anna pointing at GFAFB
Rub a dub dub
Three men in a tub
All of them shooting the bottom
The tub – it went down
The men – they did drown
And the sea – simply laughed
And said “Got ‘em!”

Too Much
A poem by Luci Sutherland
22 September 2012

“He has too much of the world’s goods…” the book read.
Too much?
Have you seen the world?! She shrieked in her mind.
Have you seen the mountains?
The canyons? The oceans?
If you don’t own at least one ocean
How can you have “too much of the world’s goods”?
Did you get too much sunshine?
Too much rain?
Too many flower-scented breezes?
Have you heard too much birdsong and too many lazy bees buzzing?
Have you held too many sleeping babies
Or shaken with too much laughter?
Have you been too loved
Or too appreciated?
Have you heard too much music,
Or watched too many plays?
Played too much baseball,
Won too many awards?
There is so much beauty it can be found in a mud-puddle!
So much light we work to put up shades.
So much love it makes us squirm and blush.
The world has so much that we ignore –
That we forget to cherish –
That we deliberately devalue –
That we mock and sometimes hate.
Then we misunderstand when God blesses one man
In highly visible ways
And others have little that we would prize.
So we decide that we have the wisdom
To set God straight –
to tell Him how to order His world.

Little Bo Peep – A Fractured Poem Rose in hat w the old Dodge
Little Bo Peep
Had a college degree
She studied sleep
Disorders that keep
People who leap
To conclusions
From reap-
ing the rewards
Of their deep
But creep-
y work.
